Scheduling Engineer

Job Purpose & Scope:


Manage Program Integrated Master schedule in P6, preparation, finalization, monitoring, control and reporting of planning and progress. Proactively coordinate between EPC‘s planning, progress and Engineering, Fabrication, Procurement, construction team, ensuring control of the full scope of work and all Program  activities are planned, linked, integrated, analysed, monitored and controlled against the plan.


Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Develops “Project Completion Schedules for major projects and programs
  • Understands scheduling relationships between all disciplines at every stage of the project
  • Provides scheduling input for the Capital plan, Business Plan, accountability reports, BSC & KPI's
  • Develops project interface and milestone schedules
  • Develops schedules for the Table Top Reviews and conducts the meetings
  • Reviews & analyzes project schedule and progress reports and performs schedule impact analysis.
  • Assists in technical evaluation of contractors scheduling capabilities and contract requirements Compliance.
  • Assists in front-end planning and preparation of reports for management support.
  • Applies scheduling best practices and techniques
  • Identifies schedule risk factors and provides recommendations
  • Produces Project Completion Schedules (Progress Curves)
  • Analyzes small value claims
  • Coordinates/resolves scheduling issues with company and contractors.
  • Assists in front-end planning and preparation of reports for management support. 
  • Becomes familiar with field Purchasing and Contracting duties
  • Carries out simple studies & presentations
  • Collects scheduling data for benchmarking.
  • Understands the change management effort including change order analysis and impact on schedule
  • Compiles and analyzes schedule data report to identify deviations from the project plan and develop corrective actions.

Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts)

  • Regular interactions with Project Manager/ Project Controls manager.
  • Engineering disciplines, Quality and Procurement Functions

Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority:

  • Has overall responsibility and accountability for the progress control and reporting
  • Has high visibility to Saudi Aramco stakeholders
  • Able to work within a defined role with limited supervision.
  • Exercises judgment in making decisions; know when to seek advice.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or appropriate experience
  • Site construction experience would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in controlling, directing, supervising and managing the day to day activities of a planning team is essential
  • A proven track record in FEED and EPC phases of refinery, oil & gas, petrochemical or similar facilities including revamp projects
  • Have a minimum of 7 years experience.
  • An understanding of Delay and Disruption Analysis, Live Project Planning and Detailed design and construction process
  • Self-motivated, energetic and tenacious
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels up to top management
  • IT/Computer Literacy in particular Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to apply planning theory, process and best practices
  • Capable of setting up, managing and motivating a team to deliver the planning objectives and achieving targets/milestones
  • Willing to share information and develop junior staff
  • Must have worked on large scale infrastructure projects ideally with a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the MEA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
