Job Purpose & Scope:

Undertake “ball park” estimates of likely cost savings/cost increases resulting from the Findings/Recommendations and associated risks identified in the VAR (Value Assurance Report).
Investigate the development of a benchmarking model that can be used for various project types to develop estimates as per above.
These high-level estimates are intended to support and aid the decision-making process as a means of quantifying the monetary value of the opportunity or risk.
This role will be on an as required basis, but potentially every calendar month for a few days, to work on various Value Assurance Reports. The role may be extended to 12 months if scope is extended to cover other department value creation quantification.

Principal Accountabilities:

The Risk Manager will support the CPED (Cost Planning and Estimating Department) to ensure that Risk Management Plans are developed, mitigation and contingency plans are maintained. The main duties related to the Risk Manager’s function are as follows:

  • Support the development and implementation of Project Risk Management policies, procedures, frameworks, and techniques.
  • Implement and maintain systems for risk identification, analysis, reporting, and risk treatments.
  • Promote the awareness of Project Risk Management techniques.  Implement change strategies to embed Risk Management concepts into the day-to-day management of each assigned ARAMCO Project.  
  • Prepare Project Risk Management Workshop schedules, in consultation with CPED.
  • Prepare and presents reports to the IPT (Integrated Project Team) on results from risk reviews, risk analysis and risk treatment planning.
  • Identifies and facilitates cross-unit Project risk management and corporate issues.
  • Coaches management and employees in implementing Project Risk Management processes, techniques and best practices. Maintains advisory relationship with Project Team and Contractors.
  • Encourages Project Management to implement best practices, sound internal controls, and continuous improvements.
  • As directed by CPED, lead and manage review exercises to confirm the levels of risk.
  • Maintain professional standards of work, keep up to date with Risk Management best practices and use own professional judgment as and when required.

Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority:
  • Professional advisor on Risk and Opportunities. Risk Management by definition includes the establishment of the risk context, identifying, analysing, evaluating, treating, monitoring and reviewing risks. (Risk Management Standard).
  • Responsible for implementing risk management objectives and plans. Bring in new ideas and concepts and guide the management and team members in understanding and implementing these concepts.
  • Authority to check and validate any Risk Management records resulting from execution activities.
  • Responsible for monitoring and influencing all Risk mitigation and contingency actions to raise awareness and contribute to achieving high levels of commitment to Risk Management on assigned ARAMCO Projects.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Business Administration Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12 years relevant experience working in the oil and gas industry or related Process Industries.
  • This individual may have a risk/financial quantification background, with experience in developing probability models for the likelihood and financial quantification of particular risks. This can then be applied to recommendations/findings associated with Value Assurance Reviews. The intent would be to provide an estimate range for management to be aware of when making decisions with respect to findings/recommendations being presented within the Value Assurance Report.
  • Able to think strategically and understand matters of significance to the enterprise as a whole.
  • High level of understanding of business processes and risk concepts.
  • Able to organize, motivate and coach others to make changes.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills for clear communication with senior management apply within the organization to enhance long-term value.

  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions in the resolution of Risk mitigation or contingency issues.
