In EDPM Asia Pacific we have over 3,000 employees spread across multiple
locations including Hong Kong, China, Australia, India and Southeast Asia. The
hiring of this newly created leadership position, based in Hong Kong,
demonstrates our commitment to further develop our growing business in Asia.
The Role
The position of Operations Director will be based in
Hong Kong and report to the Managing Director of Asia. The role will require
collaborative partnering with the various SNCL EDPM / Atkins business leaders
globally. The individual is expected to optimize the company's operating
capabilities and team up with the management team to implement business
strategies and is responsible for operational excellence and targets.
The individual has the responsibility to manage
operations for the Asia EDPM business which includes transportation,
infrastructure and property portfolios across Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China,
and South East Asia and other Asia markets, delivering operational excellence and
innovation, ensuring that revenue and margin performance meet or exceed targets
whilst enhancing our reputation with clients, governing overall effectiveness
in project delivery and its financial health, maintaining effective
communication with project teams, and with clients when required. The
individual will also need to effectively balance the demands of the short and
long-term operational performance of the business aligned with strategy for the
organisation, underpinned by a culture of collaboration and excellence.
The Job Scope
This role requires an experienced, commercial
professional, currently holding a leadership position either from the same
industry or with experience in a related industry, preferably including
experience working in Asia.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
Projects and Delivery
Working with
Project Directors and Project Managers to ensure that all projects are
delivered on time and within budget while exceeding client quality expectations
Working with the
executive management team in identifying and prioritising business development
targets and in leading on or contributing to tender submissions; incorporate
best practices in bidding
Being responsible
for project forecasting and weekly utilisations to enable optimum management of
existing resources going forward
Partnering with internal senior management to ensure all
services provided by the wider group are explored and utilized
Driving the most
efficient and quality conscious use of the Global Design Centres
Financial
Oversight of
structural cash management billings and payments
Reviewing
financial statements and data, using such data to improve efficiency
Being accountable
for the overall business P&L
Leading on
management and resolution of PI claims
Strategy and Budgets
Contributing to
the development and achievement of the company strategy
Preparing and
delivering operational budgets;
Conducting regular
operational reviews to implement operational excellence including quality, efficiencies
and cost savings
Working with
other stakeholders on the implementation of strategic initiatives
Understanding of
which clients and projects to focus on for bottom line success
Contracts
and Risk
Identifying and
managing portfolio risks, implement precautionary measures & procedures to
manage projects, escalate and report to Managing Director for key decisions
Overseeing the
management of all contracts, identify and monitor key risks associated with
contracts
Managing
commercial relationships with our clients to ensure that all parties understand
contract terms and conditions & resolve any related issues
People
and Leadership
Overseeing the business
performance of project managers and business directors where applicable
Reviewing and
improving existing policies and procedures; and assure full compliance with
corporate policies and procedures
Providing management,
technical and strategic guidance from the operational excellence perspective
Leading, coaching
and developing the team to ensure that various internal metrics are tracked and
reported accurately, through regular performance and development reviews

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the
following qualifications and competencies:
Engineering
degree or equivalent professional qualification with 15-20 years of relevant
experience in our industry or in a consulting business
Knowledge and
experience in design & delivery of projects in transportation,
infrastructure and property businesses, preferably in Asia
Customer driven with a focus on providing excellence in the eyes of our clients
Experience in a
multinational organization with an understanding of cross-cultural sensitivity
is advantageous
Strong commercial
acumen with experience in P&L management and understanding the cost of
delivery and how to manage for value
Able to
demonstrate a track record of leading commercial change within a global
business
Possess excellent
networking and ability to collaborate with and influence key stakeholders
Team player with
excellent people management skills and the ability to lead and develop teams
