Client Configuration Engineer

 

Reporting to the Client Configuration & Automation Manager this position provides the opportunity to join a highly skilled and motivated global IT organisation responsible for delivery of end user computing services to 20,000 users. 

 

The Client Configuration & Automation team is located within the Technical Services sector of Atkins Group IS, they are a highly skilled team of desktop subject matter experts focussed on delivering global IS solutions within the organisation. Embracing and developing the latest technologies the team provides solutions which drive the business forward in achieving its corporate strategies and vision.

 

The team provide the Atkins user community with the best possible seamless user experience across all devices and platforms anywhere any time. Their focus is primarily end point configuration and optimisation; however they will also provide automated deployment solutions for the corporate operating system images and core applications. Client Configuration & Automation also ensure the latest hardware is integrated in to the Atkins computing environment and ensure that it is fully optimised to meet the business needs.

 

Individuals in this role will apply technology to business requirements and problems within the desktop area.  The role will primarily involve managing requests and incidents submitted to the team as well as maintaining the corporate computing environment through group policy management and delivery of core application updates and Microsoft updates working within the IS change control framework. You will be asked to provide technical assistance to project focussed team members and provide guidance/training including technical documentation to other teams.




This role requires you to have demonstrable experience of working in a desktop and support function in an enterprise environment, the following is essential: 

·        Incident handling

·        Documentation of ongoing support and operational guidance

·        Identifying suitable IS solutions both functional and non-functional

·        Deployment testing and management

·        Solution handover for operational use

·        Client patch management

·        Client AV management, SCCM Operations and routine tasks

The role will involve both individual working and participation within a team.

  

Technical Specialities 

 

Successful candidates should be experienced in providing IT services to large enterprises and be able to demonstrate technical knowledge and understanding of all areas of technical speciality.  They will also have a broad understanding and interest in wider areas of technology. Technical specialities should include the following: 

 Microsoft Windows desktop platforms – Windows 7/10

  • Microsoft Windows desktop platforms – Windows 7/10
  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
  • Active Directory and Group Policy configuration and management
  • McAfee VSE
  • One Drive
  • Bit locker 
  • Microsoft Intune 
  • Desktop application and patch delivery through SCCM

Qualifications

  • Microsoft certification preferable
